Abstract:

The operating environment, vehicle mobility requirements, and survivability requirements imposed on military ground vehicles present significant challenges in cooling system design. At high ambient temperatures, vehicle mobility can be degraded due to the power required to provide cooling power to the fans. Computational Fluid Dynamics CFD can be used to determine cooling power requirements for a given design and provide insight into areas for improvement.
