The overall objective of the research proposed was to develop a holistic understanding of energy transfer by direct photoexcitation of adsorbate-metal bonds on metal nanoparticle surfaces and the knowhow to exploit this phenomenon to manipulate reaction selectivity in a rational manner. The specific objectives are 1 Develop relationships between adsorbatemetal electronic structure and the impact of bond formation on the optical properties of sub 5-nanometer meal particles.
