Koopman Mode Decomposition KMD was applied to satellite data of sea ice concentration and thickness for the northern and southern hemispheres to gain insight into the temporal and spatial dynamics of the sea ice behavior and to predict future sea ice behavior. Primary results were the possible change in sea ice dynamics in the 1990s, based on examination of Koopman eigenvalue distributions the geographic change in sea ice concentration over time, specifically the reduction in mean sea ice concentration and annual variation off of West Antarctica and prediction of sea ice concentration several years in the future using Koopman reconstruction techniques.
