This project investigated the behavior of complex matter molecules and solid state with strong, ultrafast laser fields operating at midinfrared wavelengths. Areas of research addressed ionization and fragmentation of hydrocarbons with vibrationally resonant pulses atnear the C-H stretch mode frequencies, high harmonic generation is solids, generation of strong, ultrafast midinfrared pulses with orbital angular momentum, femtosecond laser damage in semiconductors, attosecond electron interferometry.
