The PI final report describes the development of a Doppler-Free velocimetry technique for use in low-density plasmas and hypersonic facility flows. In the report, the PI describes implementation of a novel Doppler-Free spectroscopy setup that uses a retroreflected counter propagating beam that is separated from the incoming beam by polarization. The PI has also developed a plasma cell within a convergingdiverging nozzle to provide a calibrated argon plasma with a known flow velocity. The system has been assembled and tested in a static rubidium cell, and in flowing argon gas. The viability of seeding a hypersonic flow with a rubidium salt has also been tested. The PI has had good success under this grant and will present the work during the International Symposium on Rarefied Gas Dynamics in 2016.
