Abstract:

There are non-stationary radio frequency signals that are very difficult to detect using conventional equipment and difficult to analyze using conventional techniques. Most of our receiver, measurement and analysis technology is based on an underlying assumption that a signal being received is stationary. Key to the ability to examine such signals was the development of a scheme, reported here, for detecting very small signals close in frequency to a large signal using only power measurements.
