Abstract:
Multiple laboratory rat studies link JP-8 jet fuel exposure to enhanced noise induced hearing loss NIHL. Further, JP-8 jet fuel exposure, with and without noise, has been found to result in central auditory system dysfunctions in rats. Aircraft pilots, technicians and maintenance crews have frequently shown increased hearing loss. The overall objective of this project was to develop a multi-scale model, together with relevant supporting experimental data, to describe jet fuel exacerbated noise induced hearing loss.
