Abstract:

The Special Operations Forces SOF community is exceptional and unique in the broader institution of the United States military. The U.S. Special Operations Command SOCOM states as chief among the SOF Truths that people not equipment make the critical difference in the success of special operations. Although clearly referring to the highly trained members of the SOF across the service branches, this truth also reflects the importance of people or the human domain in SOF missions. The factors of the human domain are the psychological, cultural, behavioral, and other human attributes that influence decision making, the flow of information, and the interpretation of information by individuals and groups. It is hard to overstate the importance of these human factors to the special operator.
