This report summarizes initial investigations of wave impact load transfer through passive shock mitigation seats used in high-speed planing craft. Data recorded during seakeeping trials are used to illustrate methods for developing transfer functions that characterize shock mitigation seats, and the dynamic response of compliant seat cushions is explained using data from multiple sources. This is part of a broader study of the transfer of wave impact load from the keel up through the craft into various systems.
