The US Army Research Laboratory ARL is currently investigating using high-speed video cameras to measure vibrations of objects excited by soundwaves. A commercial rotary subwoofer speaker is one of the sources used to generate low-frequency soundwaves. Laboratory testing was performed on the speaker to understand the tradeoffs between the rotation rate of the fan blades and the amplitude of the articulation of the fan blades to maximum the amplitude on the resulting acoustic pressure waves.
