Abstract:

The Military Functional Assessment Program MFAP is a 10-task based on Basic Soldier Skills assessment program used to help determine whether a Service member is prepared to return-to-duty. Performance on the tasks is rated by a non-commissioned officer NCO, occupational therapist, physical therapist, and mental health provider. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the reliability of NCO MFAP ratings using vignettes describing the 10 tasks. Participants were 30 NCOs nave to the MFAP. Results suggest good overall consistency on average yet inspection of individual tasks suggest that the land navigation task yielded the most consistent ratings. Improvement to the instructions provided for rating the MFAP tasks may be appropriate for enhancing consistency.
