Abstract:
Significant and relevant technical progress important for the functionality and affordability of future electric ships was made by researchers at the University of Texas at Austin UT. The research was done as part of the Electric Ship Research and Development Consortium, of which UT is a founding member. Significant and important advances included the improvement of power system reliability for de systems through the development and characterization of active power control nodes and demonstrated the benefits and challenges of grid connected Inverters for power system stability under the load conditions expected on future electric ships.
