Abstract:
This document contains requirements for airborne Global Positioning System GPS and Inertial Measurements tracking sources used for range safety purposes. The document structure makes it easier for range users to develop detailed requirements representing design and test solutions that will meet performance requirements of the specific Range Safety Office also referred to herein as Range Safety. To address concerns associated with the ambiguity and contractual misinterpretation often resulting from performance requirements, the main body of text contains only performance-based requirements, while three appendices are included to assist the range user and Range Safety in developing detailed requirements document. Appendix A offers lessons learned and standard industry practices as recommended solutions. Appendix B describes the rationale and safety concerns associated with the performance requirements and recommended solutions. Appendix C provides methodology for testing GPS metric tracking receiverstranslators to the current performance standards contained in this document.
