Abstract:

Alterations in the Epidermal Growth Factor EGF andor function of the EGF receptor EGFR, have been related to GI injury. Bioactive compounds like Prostaglandin E2 PGE2 also appear to have a role in barrier maintenance. A model evaluating the interaction of such compounds in vivo does not exist.
