Abstract:

During a United Nations UN sponsored meeting between non-governmental organizations NGO and the Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination held in February 2012, representatives alluded to continued violence towards the Hmong. The Congress of World Hmong People, a non-profit NGO that advocates Hmong economic, social, and cultural rights, vehemently stressed that massacres and murders of indigenous Hmong are still occurring in the Xaysombun Administrative Zone territory within the Phou Bia Mountains in northern Laos.1 Poisonous chemical agents had been used against Hmong people, including children, leading to severe health consequences for the population. The goal of those attacks, led by the Laos Army and Vietnamese Military battalions was to wipe out the Hmong in the region completely by 2015. 2
