Abstract:
Why has the Western community reacted inconsistently towards the Ukrainian crisis This is a legitimate question to understand the contemporary global environment. This monograph argues that a states reaction towards a crisis is a function of multiple variables. Despite embracing the same liberal democratic values and principles, the states have behaved according to a peculiar pattern. The states reactions depend on the geographical proximity to the crisis, the cultural-historical connectivity with involved actors, the actors economic interdependence, and national interests and preferences.
