Our overall goal is to develop ways to increase the capabilities of Unmanned Underwater Gliders UUGs. Specifically, by examining the basic design choices made in arriving at todays legacy gliders, we seek to develop a design with better performance and simpler maintenance and operation. The design metrics are vehicle range, which balances duration and speed, and sensor payload.
