The overall goal of this project was to improve our understanding of beaked whale distribution and foraging behavior and to describe inter-specific differences. We investigated spatio-temporal patterns for Cuviers beaked whale and a beaked whale producing echolocation signal type BW43 in the Southern California Bight using passive acoustic encounters, comparing data gathered from line transect surveys and autonomous recorders.
