Abstract:
The studies presented in this thesis describe experiments designed to increase our understanding of how T cells transduce activating signals to the transcription factor NF-B, and to better understand the kinetic nature of NF-B signaling. The overarching goals of this thesis are 1 to evaluate T cell receptor mediated activation of the transcription factor NF-B in the absence of key signaling proteins, and 2 to define the mechanisms of signal transduction to NF-B by identifying the point at which signaling becomes digital in nature.
