Abstract:
An Eulerian-Lagrangian method with higher-order fidelity was developed that enables the efficient and accurate determination of unsteady particledroplet dynamics and flow phenomena occurring in blasts and high-speed combustors. A higher-order stable coupling between the gas phase and the particle phase was developed that ensures a excellent shock capturing combined with a accurate resolution of small scale instabilities and crucial mixing phenomena in combustors. The Eulerian-Lagrangian method was validated against published data on shock interaction with a cloud of particles.
