Abstract:
The single-stranded negative sense RNA ssRNA- virus families Arenaviridae, Orthomyxoviridae, and Paramyxoviridae include some of the most deadly emerging zoonotic pathogens. These viruses are known to impair antiviral interferon activation responses in humans through virus-host protein-protein interactions PPIs that disrupt intracellular signaling pathways. However, little is known about the role of homologous PPIs in animal donor hosts and the extent of adaption necessary to form similar complexes in new recipient hosts. The present work seeks to characterize the importance of PPIs in species jumping events.
