This environmental assessment EA evaluates the potential environmental impacts of activities associated with privatization of military service stations MSS at five installations Altus AFB, Oklahoma OK Camp Bullis, Texas TX Fort Sam Houston FSH, TX Laughlin AFB, TX and Tyndall AFB, Florida FL. The activities associated with the proposed action include construction and operation of a new MSS by the contracted service provider at each installation, and demolition of the existing MSS after the new MSS is operational. The need for the proposed action is to upgrade by repair or replacement the substandard MSS facilities existing at each of the installations without interrupting mission-readiness and to provide the facilities to meet the mandate from Executive Order EO 13423 to use more non-petroleum based fuels. The resources analyzed in this EA are geological, water, biological, and cultural resources hazardous materials and wastes air quality noise transportation and utilities. Minor, temporary impacts were identified for construction and demolition activities. Most of the operational impacts would be negligible.
