Abstract:

The current state of knowledge of the F-region irregularity phenomenon is determined. In particular, the results of recent experiments are summarized 1 two in-situ satellite probes that determine the magnitudes, locations, and extents of the irregularity regions 2 ground-based vhf radar explorations that confirm the turbulent structure of the regions and 3 long-term monitorings of geostationary satellite beacons which reveal gross drift properties and the dependence on solar activity.
