For sensor netting in ballistic missile defense BMD, data must be transferred from one sensor to another. The purpose of the field demonstrations reported here was to demonstrate specific netting functions entailing data transfer from one radar to another remotely located radar under field conditions. At the White Sands Missile Range, target data from various objects were transferred from AMRAD, a mechanical tracking radar, to HAPDAR, a phased array radar driven by an IBM 36065 computer using special BMD software. The two radars were separated by about ten miles. This report describes the software developed for these demonstrations and the tests that were carried out to demonstrate target transfer from one radar to another and target track association or correlation between independent tracks of the two radars.
