A general framework for a computer system that accepts and analyzes the vast quantity of data generated by a modern sonar suite has been developed. The output of this computer system is an array of alerting functions that measure the likelihood that a given coordinate vector is the location of a target. In particular, the framework combines the output of active high- and low-Doppler sonar processors and wideband and narrowband passive processors. The active high- and low-Doppler processor portion was developed and tested during this study. Performance tests using simulated data established that the combined active processor gave better performance than each individual processor and its single output channel gave more uniform performance over variations in target Doppler than was available with the two separate channels. An observer test was conducted using ARL processed ANSQS-23 recorded sea data with injected target signals.
