Abstract:

A wind tunnel test of a 50 degree swept wing research model, both with and without close-coupled canards and horizontal tail, has been performed in the NAVSHIPRANDCEN 7 by 10-foot Transonic Wind Tunnel. The purpose of this test was to investigate the aerodynamics of close-coupled canards and obtain comparison data with a configuration having a horizontal tail. Three canard locations and one tail location were tested at surface deflection angles of 0 to 20 degrees and angles of attack from -4 to 28 degrees. Mach number range for the test was from 0.6 to 1.1. No analysis of the data is presented. Author
