Abstract:
Auxiliary power units could support preflight maintenance and aircrew operations during normal and isolated field operation with limited aerospace ground equipment. The Model GTCP165-7 APU 706 eliminated many problem areas experienced with other models and appeared to have improved overall reliability. APU operation was satisfactory on both JP-5 and 115145 aviation gasoline as well as on JP-4. Starting characteristics were closely repeatable regardless of the type fuel used. Airstarts could be made up to 30,000 feet pressure altitude.
