Abstract:

A study was made of all phases of tactical deployment of an AFAR type radar to determine the problems and solutions associated with deployment, and to develop a plan for making the radar responsive to tactical deployment. The study plan contained the following steps 1 Define tactical radar and support equipment 2 Develop plan for responsive turn-on of manufacturing and deployment 3 Investigate radar hardware to determine ways to shorten manufacturing time 4 Select most promising approach or approaches 5 Develop scheme for using modular concept with tactical radar and support equipment 6 Perform schedule tradeoff studies to shorten deployment time 7 Investigate application of approaches to KMR installation--consider what portion of the radar can be used to verify modular deployment concept 8 Determine schedule impact on 30 month program for delivery of an operational AFAR to KMR 9 Develop budgetary cost impact on 30 month AFAR Program.
