Abstract:

Several designs have been evaluated for an image converter module, but the decision was made to use a PIP processed proximity focused tube with an 18-mm active cathode and a 0.05-inch spacing. The III-V cathodes used were GaInAsGaP, GaInAsGaInPGaP, and GaAsGaP. Tube part cleaning, assembly procedures, and exhaust and activation procedures are described in detail. Problems in tube pinch-off were solved. Photocathode sensitivities ranged from 0.5 to 12.8 micronAlm. An operating unit was coupled to an EBS camera tube. Author
