Abstract:
This document contains the result of a study to determine ways and means of improving the effectiveness of the communications of a tactical base. The earlier sections provide a tutorial review of elementary networks and basic multiplex theory. These two disciplines are united to cover multiplexed networks as related to the tactical base. The latter sections apply these multiplex network techniques to the communication requirements of a Lightweight Bare-Base package as presently defined, and show how such techniques can grow with the base through the medium and heavy configurations. Application is also made to the Bare-Base concept as it might evolve in the 1980s. The final section summarizes the applications.
