Abstract:

The method of orthogonal polynomials has been used to obtain an infinite series solution of Laplaces differential equation for a regular polygonal simply-connected region and for a given symmetric boundary condition that is applicable to problems of torsional rigidity. The terms of the series are in the form of determinants. The elements of the determinants are given by means of a recursion formula. This investigation was carried out in order to determine the usefulness of orthogonal polynomial methods to the numerical solution of problems arising in ordnance research. Author
