The propeller under consideration is essentially an axial pump. It consists of a rotor that is followed by a stator, which reduces the tangential velocity components after the rotor to zero. Rotor and stator are housed in a casing in which the axial through flow velocity is kept constant. Therefore, a certain pressure rise exists after the stator. In a subsequent nozzle this pressure differential is used to accelerate the mass flow that passes through the propeller.
