The report describes a fire protection study comprising 1 Evaluation of self contained portable extinguishing systems meeting specific criteria for the protection of Air Mobility Program structures. Two portable high-expansion foam systems were tested and compared with the capabilities of a previously tested portable Halon total flooding system. 2 Investigation of the feasibility of several approaches to the problem of economically upgrading existing inadequate fixed fire protection in Air Material Command type warehouses. The approaches considered were the use of 350 deg F rated sprinklers, friction reducing agents, water thickeners, three-way siamese connections, and large drop high output experimental sprinklers. Recommendations are made.
