An industry survey was made for methods to terminate 30 AWG or smaller solid wire on square or rectangular posts in a grid array with center to center spacing of 100 75, and 50 mils. A test plan was prepared which included MIL-STD tests for resistance to moisture, salt fog, vibration, mechanical shock, and thermal shock. Electrical overload and strip strength testing were also included. Hardware was fabricated to satisfy the test plan. Environmental testing was performed to accumulate data concerning the reliability of the electrical terminations. Analysis of test results indicated that 1 no termination failures occurred as a result of test stresses 2 there was no observed advantage in using either OFHC copper wire or alloy 135 wire 3 changes in termination resistance recorded probably would not degrade a practical termination system.
