Abstract:
This report presents a series of graphical comparisons of experimental pressure distributions with pressure distributions calculated by the Douglas Neumann Program. The configurations considered have been classified geometrically as axisymmetric bodies at zero or nonzero angle of attack, two-dimensional lifting airfoils, and truly three-dimensional bodies. Within each category a variety of bodies are presented including multiple bodies, and both low-speed and high subsonic flows are shown. This report contains essentially every case for which the results of the calculations have been compared with experiment. The agreement is very satisfactory in all cases except for a few very complicated configurations that could not be defined well enough for good accuracy and even in such cases the calculation gives results that are usable for many purposes.
