Abstract:
The continuum absorption by H2O between 2400 and 2780cm and by N2 between 2400 and 2650cm has been measured. The H2O data cover the temperature range from 338 K to 428 K and are primarily for pure H2O. A few preliminary results for H2O N2 mixtures are discussed. Calculated values of the continuum- absorption coefficient are compared with the experimental results. From absorption data on samples of pure N2 and of N2 O2 at different temperatures, the attenuation by atmospheric N2 has been calculated for a range of temperatures encountered in the atmosphere. The strengths of several N2O bands between 1100 and 660cm have been measured and are tabulated.
