The report presents the results of a continuing effort to produce low cost BeTi composite fan and compressor blades for aircraft turbine engines. Designpayoff studies have been performed which indicate these materials are well suited to this application and offer significant weight savings. Several methods of producing BeTi composites at reasonable costs were investigated with encouraging results. Property data for these composites are given in the report. Direct forging as a means of shaping airfoils from these compostes has been investigated with promising results. Author
