The report covers Phase I of a three-phase program of research and study to define a new system to facilitate search for and recovery of downed air crew members. The objective of the study was to provide the gross definition of the requirements for an advanced survival avionics subsystem in terms of its operational parameters. The reported study consists of two major elements Operational Analysis of the Search and Recovery Mission and Environment, and Systems Analysis of Requirements, Concepts and Equipment.
