Abstract:
Soft solar x rays 1-25 angstroms are detected by a proportional counter and a crystal spectrometer aboard satellite OV1-10 from December 1966 to May 1967. The relation between x ray bursts and centimeter radio bursts is investigated, but no correlation is evident. Good correlation is obtained between the slowly varying components of solar radio 606-8800 mhz and x ray line emission, higher frequency x rays showing best correlation with higher frequency radio emission. The variation of emission measure with temperature is calculated, and a theoretical spectrum is compared with data to produce a temperature estimate both calculations indicate temperatures of the order of a few million degrees Kelvin, in agreement with previous results.
