Investigation of the Nuclear Structure of Sc44 Using the Proton Capture Reaction.

Properties of excited states of Sc44 were studied using the Ca43p, gammaSc44 reaction. One hundred and eighty-five resonances were identified to an accuracy of plus or minus keV between E sub p 900 and 1500 keV, and relative resonance strengths were calculated. Spectra were recorded at E sub p 1132, 1144 and 1289 keV using a 60-cc GeLi detector. Forty-nine bound states, including 11 new states, were identified, with standard errors generally of 1-2 keV. The Q-value was calculated to be 6694 keV with a standard error of 1.2 keV and a systematic error or 1 keV.
