This report describes the NEST N-Element System chemistry computer program. NEST is a general 6000 Series CDC FORTRAN program for calculating fluid and thermodynamic properties of frozen, equilibrium, and nonequilibrium chemically reacting, one-dimensional flows. These include shock tube, rocket, windtunnel, and streamtube flows. NEST can also calculate the time variation of a reacting stationary gas. The report contains a detailed description of the formulation of the equations and numerical methods used, the program structure, and input preparation. Author
