Abstract:

A generalized equation is proposed for the relative elastic moduli ofcomposite materials. By the introduction of a generalized Einstein coefficientand a function which considers the maximum volumetric packing fraction of thefiller phase, the moduli of many types of composite systems can be calculated.Moduli of glass spheres in a rubbery epoxy and a rigid epoxy matrixes aredetermined.
