Abstract:

A technique was developed to translate findings of laboratory decision making research into a form applicable to the operational ASWAAW training environment. This translative technique is composed of two categorization schemas - a decision skill taxonomy and a behavioral deficiency taxonomy - through which the experimental tasks studied and resultant research findings are translated. Applicability of the translated research findings to operational systems is demonstrated by an analysis of submarine fire control data from training device and real-world exercises.
