Abstract:

Applications of geodetic astronomy and of higher geodesy based on the results of accurate measurements of the position of the satellites are discussed. Properties and inaccuracies of measurements methods using radar and photographic methods for the determination of man-made satellites position are discussed. Use of a laser improves the accuracy of determination of their position by one order of magnitude. Sample calculations of the energy of the system shows that lasers can be used for those measurements. Author
