Abstract:

A visit to several Danish research institutes and universities is described. At the Danish Defence Research Board, L. Brock-Nannestad is studying the conductivity of the seabed. At the University of Copenhagen, R. Mattuck is studying phase transitions and the Kondo problem. L. Ah-Sam is investigating the propagation of electromagnetic waves through a metallic slab using the variational method of Jones and Sondheimer. The Technical University of Denmark is a beehive of activity in microwave physics and antenna theory. K. Saermarks group in solid state physics is doing work in solid state physics at low temperatures and the propagation of electromagnetic waves in solid state plasmas. At Aarhus University work in the theory of channeling is being done by K. Nielsen experimental work and J. Lindhard theoretical work. Author
