Techniques were developed and demonstrated for digital computer simulation of aircraft missions using turbo-propulsion systems. Flexible models comprised of aircraft characteristics, engine characteristics and mission profile controls are presented in detail. These models provide the capability for digital simulation of most of the practical missions conceived for singed aircraft. Instructions for and techniques of application are presented in detail. Methods for applying simulation results to mission capability analysis are discussed and examples are presented. A computer program for automatic optimization of dynamic systems is discussed along with detailed studies of its application to automatic optimization of propulsion systems to mission requirements.
