The program is aimed at developing an all solid state parametric amplifier in the 9 to 10.4 GHz band using a twin junction coaxial varactor. An integrated circulator with an instantaneous bandwidth of 9 to 10.4 GHz and a bias insertion unit were designed and are near the final testing stage. The varactor and its holder were redesigned to provide a propagating idler circuit thereby permitting measurements of the junctions at idler frequency. A high voltage varactor was tested as an amplifier under high pumping levele. A noise figure of 2.5 dB and a saturated power output of the order of 50mW were measured at C-band. Author
