This Initial Production Test of Paving Machine, Bituminous Material, Crawler-Mounted, Gasoline-Engine-Driven, was conducted to determine the suitability for issue and safety characteristics of the paving machine. It was concluded that the paving machine meets all performance characteristics to a degree which would permit satisfactory accomplishment of its intended mission assignment meets all transportability requirements of MIL-P-335D except as indicated is suitable for issue with respect to surface transportability is easily maintained can traverse over the beach in loose or wet sand for short distances and cannot be easily transported by truck-tractor semitrailer combination in loose dry sand. It was also concluded that the manufacturers Operation and Service Manual and Parts Manual are adequate pending incorporation of appropriate safety precautions a fire extinguisher must be provided and the lifting and tiedown points are suitable for shipment by landing craft and for LOTS operations.
