Abstract:
The one group time-dependent transport equation for neutrons in sea level atmosphere is solved numerically for an expanding shell source. Using spherical geometry and assuming azimuthal symmetry and isotropic scatter, the problem is formulated in terms of the x,y,t variables. Results have been calculated for a region of eight mean free paths in diameter yielding flux curves comparable to S sub n. The problem was programmed for the IBM-7094 computer using the Fortran IV language. The program includes a plotting routine for an off-line plotter. Author
