Tree Meta is a compiler-compiler system for context-free languages. Parsing statements of the metalanguage resemble Backus-Naur Form with embedded tree-building directives. Unparsing rules include extensive tree-scanning and code-generation constructs. Examples in this report are drawn from algebraic and special-purpose languages. The process of bootstrapping from a simpler metalanguage is explored in detail. Author
